Connect TDCI P0251 P1211 codes

Postby angusmcdangle » Mon May 31, 2010 8:26 am

Hi, have the dreaded 'limp mode under load' fault on my 05 connect.
Had codes read... P0251 & P1211
Changed filters - still faulty.
Have had the EGR valve checked - valve ok.
Have had all 4 injectors changed at £799 - still have fault although performance slightly improved.
Changed rail and sensor - still faulty.
Had codes read again, garage convinced it is the Delphi fuel pump.

I have bought a recon one (12 months warranty)... is this a DIY job to change? I have friends who work on old landrovers, so not over technical but used to getting under a bonnet.

What is involved in changing a fuel pump or should I just get a garage to do it?

Cheers.

Those two fault codes point to fuel delivery pressure and pump fault. Not sure why you went with the injectors first :?:

I had to change my tddi pump about this time last year due to the immobiliser packing up, i got one from this place for £600 and fitted it myself, took me a day

http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/index.asp

they come unprogrammed and all you have to do after fitting is leave the ignition on for half an hour without starting it and the ecu programs it itself

ah this is intresting, is this always the case or just from there??? i was told you need a cam belt kit too which was included in my price, i have done 135k so far without any of the dreaded injetor or fuel pump problems so cant really grumble

Exactly, those codes point to a pump problem.....hence my original question.

P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control A Malfunction
P1211 Injector Control Pressure Sensor Above / Below Desired

You do know that there are two pumps? Tank delivery pump, which is normally ok then a high pressure delivery pump which is the one that causes the most problems and costs the £

this most expensive pump, would that be somthing to do with the fuel regualtion valve? asking because a garage was 50/50 on that this could solve the problem but didnt want to gamble with my money

the price i was quoted for changing the pump which i was told was 600 pounds new seems extremely expensive even for a main dealer for what i understand is a fair days work. also i was told you need some sort of special lead to change the pump? im struggling to find a garage who will be ale to do this in the gloucester area.

im a realist but 1350 quid seems insane to me.

Nope that price is about right. Personally I'd opt for a Diesel specialist over your 'normal' garage or a stealer.
