Fitting The ipod Lead

Postby BobbyLove » Sat Jan 22, 2011 4:43 pm

Hello everyone, its been a big weekend for the connect.
First thing this morning drove round to Hampton to collect and fit a roof rack I won on ebay for £31 :D
Then fitted the ipod lead.

Ok I started out with this

Image

Then with the four headunit removal keys in place I slowly pulled out the headunit like so

Image

With the headunit half on my knee and half on the gear knob I got the ford ipod lead out

Image

and fed it through the spare lighter socket hole to my fingers that were ready down the back behind where the headunit would be. So now I have this

Image

then I got the white end of the lead and pluged it into the back of the headunit

Image

next I had to drill a 20mm hole into the blanking plate, this

Image

slide the unit back in slowly carefull not to trap any slack from the lead oh and make sure the ariel lead hasnt popped off.
Clip in the 3.5mm socket into the blanking plate and test it!

Image

I would like to be able to one day move it over to the top of the dash near the divers piller as thats where I mount the iphone to use as a satnav. and it would be nice not to have a 3.5mm jack lead trailing across.
Cheers

I priced the aux lead at ford dealers and it was only £8.50 why would you pay nearly £18 from ebay
or am i missing something?

Are you should they have given you the price for the correct part?
as to me that sounds about right for the lead that you plug into the ipod/mp3 player headphone socket into the aux point?
Double check

I have a "parrot" hands free kit fitted and it just plugs into the iso connector as usual, ps ford sell the ipod leads for about £8
don,t bother getting them of ebay just ask for a fiesta ipod lead.
