MK7 2.2 130 FWD.
Turning at full lock, very slowly, big clunk and power steering failed.
I noticed a belt had come off the pulley thing.
Called AA hoping he would be able to put it back on.
Nope! The entire pulley came off in his hand.
Apparently the centre part is hard rubber which had disintegrated.
The AA man reckoned that Ford UK would have to get one sent from Germany.
Anyway, got recovered all the way home from London to mid Wales.
The vehicle is only 3½ years old, 27k on the clock, Hymer motorhome.
Any clever gurus out there who can tell me if there is likely to have been any collateral damage to the engine?
Is it simply a matter of bolting on a new pulley?
Is elaborate setting up and positioning required?
Thanks, in anticipation!
PS - Superb service from the AA from start to finish.
No long waits, constantly updated on progress by mobile and TXT.
Had three changes of recovery vehicle en route due to drivers hours and the distance but transfers all quickly done with no hanging around. It is even being forward recovered this morning from our home to a garage for repair.
Can't do better than that!
