Welding up MK5 Back doors

Postby chrscmbs » Sat Mar 26, 2011 8:35 pm

Hello,

Has anyone welded up the back doors on their MK5 before?

I'm planning on fitting seats and a Bed flush up to the back doors as I wont be using them, besides I'm going to put a storage box at the rear anyway on the outside. 8) As long as it dosent matter if I do this or effect the MOT (cant see why it should) is there any other reason why I shouldnt weld them up apart from not being able to open them of course  :D

why do you want too? If you dont want them to be openable just keep em locked or put a shed type dead bolt on em...

I can see why you would want to take the doors off and put an extended box section out of the rear ? say 2 foot , this would gain some decent room and would be easy to put back to standard

Hello,

Great Idea Slogger... but in relation to welding up the doors, all points taken and I will just secure them instead now 8) :D

2 steel bars on the inside and some bolts will make it fully secure and can be reversed to have the doors back when your finished withthe van ;) and it gives you something solid to fix the box to
