Hi everyone ..... been a while I know but been having a mid-life crisis or maybe life has been treating me S##t lately but hey ho, what doesn`t kill us, only makes us stronger
Anyway, whilst sorting through my attic ready to sell off every thing I own I came across 2 Waeco "magic lift" kits that I had bought many moons ago to fit on my old Shogun (which has long since died and gone to a better place) so I thought aha.... poor van has been very neglected of late, so lets treat it to one of these leccie window kits
Looks good so far....... lets open the box
OMG what are all these bits.............
...........well the drive part looks simple enough ....
So I read through the instructions ................ 5 times ... and slowly becomes clear,
Remove door panel..... hmmmm ok
Anyway to cut along story short, this kit utilises the original wind mechanism, so you basically remove door trim, remove winder handle, fit a splined bush onto the winder stub thingy (there is an amazing assorment of bushes to fit nearly every vehicle known to man), you then fit another splined bush to the drive mechanism .... but then the clever part is a 3rd bush goes between these 2 bushes...... now the purpose of this is that should the window motor fail...battery dies, or whatever and your window is down and it starts to chuck it down with rain, you can remove the middle bush which seperates the drive motor from the window mechanism, insert this handle................
.............and manually wind the window up
The kit comes with a vast array of brackets to mount everyting and the drive motor mechanism as in picture 3 can bent into any angle required to make it fit the door aperture... also comes with all wiring, electric window switches.... everything needed, even the blanking plugs to cover the holes in the door panels, (which have removable caps allowing access to the cogs so you can use the emergency manual handle if required)....
Well have fitted the kit and it works well on both windows...... very quiet and very smooth especially considering the Transit window mechanism is a brutal looking set up....
Drivers door..............
Passenger door..............
Electric window switches in centre pod (left switch for passenger window, right switch for drivers window)..........
Have yet to make up new door panels, and when I have done this will add more photos to show
