Transit jumbo

Postby dazzer1972 » Fri Jul 01, 2011 5:43 pm

Hi in looking to get a transit jumbo in the next few weeks, i will be doing mostly town driving with some motorway my local dealer has a couple of 100 bhp 5 speed 08's for sale (any thoughts on these) i was original looking for a 6 speed 115bhp so i'm slightly concernd the 100 might be worse on mpg and not so nice to drive at 70mph on the motorway.
Any thoughts.

Are the 140's reliable i seem to remember reading somewhere that the 140's eat turbos and injectors. Have you had any problems with yours as thats the one i would realy like :) but was worried about reliability. my local dealer has a 140 coming in, it's a 06 with 81,000 on the clock and no VAT :? :?

Unfortunately mine is on it's 3rd turbo but I put that down to 30k service intervals it had just hit 87k when it's 2nd turbo gave in a couple of days after I got the van but it had only had two oil changes in that time so that's my theory I'm changing all oil filters and oil every 10k from now on I am nearl at the 10k Mark and it drives superb never had any problems with the injectors though I have a funky box that lifts the bbl to around 165 so it's very relaxing to drive either empry or fully loaded with a overall average over the last 10k of 34mpg Which in my opinion ain't to bad for such a big van

Dont buy a 5 speed 100ps, get a 6 speed 115, better on fuel and better drive especially on long motorway work
Everyone is entitled to my opinion

Ford Transit 125ps 260 Trend
Ford Transit 130ps 350 Chausson Flash 03
