transit wont go into gear

Postby Vandalism » Wed Aug 17, 2011 5:40 pm

just had a phone call from my dad saying he took the transit for a run upto the tip and back (no more than 10 miles)
and got back home and it now wont go into gear...the box did have a problem of popping out of reverse...does this mean the gear box is finally finished :?:

if not what might the problem be.....(p.s its a german transit)

this is a disaster as its recently had a new clutch and if it is finished the transit is going nowhere for a long time untill i rebuild the other engine and box to go in :(

If it happens again, see if it will go in without the engine running  If it does, then the clutch is to blame :(

More likely the box itself. Mine does similar things. Quite often gets stuck in reverse, you then have to stir the stick until it all drops back in its slots and then you can engage gears again. Also had it stick in neutral and top gear.
They may moan about the Type 9 on here, but it cant be any worse than having to deal with this rubbish German box stuck at lights etc. So the sooner its changed in my case the better.
