hi
just done a 07 mk7 2.4 135, failed tensioner, my 1st (and probably not my last) guides showing no signs of wear, tensioner u/s, timing had jumped with inevitable valve meets piston joys damage caused was pretty expensive, inlet cam was scrap as lobes spun on shaft, cam carrier re-designed so rocker shaft sub carrier took a hit and the pressed steel rockers broke, but unfortunely one of them exited thro the side of the cam carrier. this was welded ,dressed up and re-fitted, inlet sprocked had its teeth ripped off , good news is less labour than mk6 but but price of bits to repair was more than mk6 (even allowing for a new head on mk6), but i suppose with 210k on clock it hadnt done bad.
