Would have C.I re-bodied a second hand chassis cab?

Postby davev6newman » Mon Oct 10, 2011 8:15 pm

I have just got the records back for all the previous owners of my C.I travelhome restoration project.

It threw up some interesting history. Turns out that it started life in 1983 as white tipper body with a 2.0cc engine.

In 1995 it changes colour to blue

Then some 15 years later according to the log book, it says, "was a pickup but has new motorhome back fitted". It is now also white.

Was this a new or a second hand body fitted? Would C.I have retro fitted a used body? It looked too original to be a home job.

Then in 1998 the log book is changed to a 3.0ltr engine, but same engine number :?

Very interesting.........

Luke, do you remember saying this on my restoration thread??

weld in a bulkhead and fit a pickup back

Well it turns out you was not far wrong then, as it started life as a pick up.
