Turbo Problem??

Postby connectmac » Tue Nov 08, 2011 9:56 pm

Hi Guys.
I have an issue with what i think could be a dead turbo. I have had the van only about a month a gradually the turbo wistle has become louder. The van has always smoked like hell when you floor it. Today while driving the van suddenly became very slow with no turbo boost at all (No engine light or anything). I can not hear the turbo spool anymore. With working long hours i have not had any time to have a good look. I was going to be blanking egr and de-catting when i eventually get a day off.
Anyone have any other ideas :?: Bloody undriveable at the min :(

Might be worth providing a bit more info on engine (tddi tdci etc), age, mileage.

Black smoke guys. Had the van plugged in to read codes and it come up with P0235 turbo charger boost sensor A circuit. Ive checked all pipework, cleaned pipes and checked air filter. Could it be the map sensor? Turbo sound before i lost power didnt sound to well :(

take the pipe from the air filter to the turbo off and get your fingers into the inlet side of the turbo, grab the shaft and see if there is any up-down, side to side movement, only a very very small amount is permissable :!: :!: , if you can get a small mirror in there and check for any impellor contact with the outer casing

Just an update guys. I had the van on ramps this morning and noticed that the turbo actuator rod had come away from the manifold. The fixing bolt had snapped. Goin into garage tomorrow to get it sorted, going to be a lot cheaper than i was expecting :D
