you have to ideally remove front grill, rad and slam panel to get easier access.
piece of piss after that.
loosen n remove belts for alternator n powersteering pump
turn crank by hand to align flywheel holes, fit locking pin. should also be lined up now for camshaft pulley pin hole and fuel pump pin hole.
fit all locking pins, loosen cambelt tensioner, remove cambelt, remove water pump.
replace pump, belt and tensioner with new.
refit in reverse order
check tension of cam belt, remove pins, turn 2 full revolutions, re pin to check nothings moved/jumped, remove pins and re fit every thing else!

2 hours plus refill antifreeze
2.9i 24v cosworth v6 LSD now fitted and quad pipes out back

MAKE IT FIT

you don't need to remove the cambelt.......

but considering its an extra few minutes to replace it, its an opportune time to do it......

the belt isnt expensive, and if you want to replace the tensioner, its also not that expensive.....

also note, that Ford state that if the timing belt is removed...it NEEDS to be replaced.....

There are some threads here that say you can use drill bits. Do a search here for the sizes.

yes, drill bits work well :)

you need 3 to lock the required components:
8mm for the cam sprocket
6mm or 9mm for the injection pump (my bosch pump used the 9mm)
and its stated as a 13mm for the flywheel.

I personally had to use a 12mm as the 13mm wouldn't fit mine....

but its all timed up correctly, so I don't care

I prefer the correct pins myself, they're a dead fit, and you can't pin up the flywheel in the wrong hole if you use these:-

On the ebay link above the pins stated say they are for 1.6 & 1.8 engines. Can they be used ok for the 2.5? Or are different ones needed? As im sure you can tell im not clued up on pins :?
