Can any one see a link that a faulty injector could cause a big end bearing to fail?
We had a bearing fail and turn in rod. Rebuilt with new con rod and bearings and lasted less than 40 miles until tapping came back. Crank was in good condition and dimensions. Oil pressure was over 3.5 bar at 2000rpm. When dropping bearings off again they were well lubricated and all oil ways clear through crank and block so can not find a real reason why it happened.
Clutching at straws.
Have ordered short engine from Ford but wondering about injector problem possibility.
To be honest, I cant see a faulty injector causing problems with the big end bearings, as they are in the base of the engine below the piston so enclosed away from the injectors..... With your problems it does sound like oil starvation........
why did the bearing fail??lack of oil is common cause just because oil is on the bearing dont mean it had enough pressure there to stop it seizing...or did bearing fail due to wear
The bearing appeared hammered and went out widthways in con rod until it spun in rod, rod and bearing replaced.
Oil pressure good (3.5 bar at 2000) and oil ways clear just thinking that the only other common link to cylinder is the injector and it would be an expensive mistake if it happened again.
if the injectors have leaked while vans been standing its possible they could of leaked enough fuel to make the engine to slighlty hydraulic lock or ts squirting to much fuel in that cylinder
Started stripping engine to rebuild onto new Ford short engine.
On removing head there is a definite funny carbon pattern on the top of no 2 the one that failed. Around the edge of the piston there is no carbon and you have the 4 valves outlined in carbon in the correct positions but in the middle of the piston there is like half covered in carbon and half like washed clean.
