MTB enthusiasts...can you help?

Hi guys,

Not strictly a connect based question but its the only part of the forum I frequent and I've seen some people here mention about mountain bikes.

Basically I have a £500 budget (less than that if I can) and would like your opinions on two bikes I've seen. The "carrera kraken" and the "cube aim disc".Could you tell me which one is better in regards to the equipment fitted? or if you have any other makes/models in the price range that could be enter than those two?

Dude I work in an Evans cycles in Glasgow!

I would go for the goast aim both are good bikes bit that one would do it for me in that price range!

I've always found sheeple that work in bike shops to be a sandwich short of a picnic with an NVQ's worth of knowledge about bikes...and that's the better ones.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm after something that will be comfortable enough to ride on te road but with the wooded areas round here it's got to be able to take some abuse. I have no real clue about bikes and the different equipment that get out on the different bikes, so I just want the best I can get. Does the 20mm difference in fork travel make that much difference i.e will I notice it being a novice?

Most bikes have inflatable tyres nowerdays that provide a good ride and I doubt if a lightweight human power vehicle need any more suspension

Have you considered a gentlemans bicycle?
A pashley guvnor for instance
Tweed and bicycle clips will be needed
