apart from the extra weight of suspension isnt a shorter wheel base better for a stiff and more responsive ride not sagging around on suspension like a pair of flabby tits
regarday this little number from the 1930s when cycles were cycles 8)
the back wheel has been shoved so far under to shorten the wheelbase the down tube has had to be chopped up

Nice one! Very funny obv you never bin in a good bike shop then! I reckon your the one a few pence short of a pound....;-)

Yeah but you are the one saying an extra kilo and a crappy Suntour fork is better than a disc specific Rockshox Recon with rebound adjustment and a crappy Acera 8 speed is better than 9 speed X7 and let's not go to crankset's, hubs or the finer details such as chains and chain link connectors.

Anyone recommending buying second-hand to someone who knows sweet fa about bikes is not the brightest lamp in the street.

As BJT would say 'cube my arse'.

I've never owned a cube but i was under the impression the were alight.
Personally i love my orange, if you can get one in your price range i think its worth it.
Good ride and good spec and uk based (halifax) so easy to give them a ring if you have any problems.

Try telling that to a Greek X country jeyboy.

Look closely at the spec. of the Decathlon, it's a frog bike and your bigboy brands THAT PAY TWATS IN SUITS like Specialised, ze Merckel Cube, Evans 'we sell anything out of date cheaply so long as we make money' etc. only put that sort of fork etc. on 900 shekel bikes,if you are in Essex then you can see and buy one at their Lakeside outlet.

More travel isnt always better, its better having good quality in a lesser amount than more of a poorer performance...in leymans terms less travel in a good suspension fork is better than more travel in a pish suspension fork. At the price range you are looking at you wont get that great a spec, it will cover what you require it to do and more though.
If you are looking at Carreras then also look at another brand Halfrauds is stocking,Boardman bikes. They are good spec for what you pay and if you can pick up a last years model at a bargain then you are cheesin.
