oil in my intercooler

Postby nicklloyd » Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:33 am

Hi everone i have a problem with some oil in my intercooler its no loads but looks like a small drip
i have been told by my loal mechanic that there is no point fixing it as it is too costly £4k
hover still runs perfect no blips smoke so i am wondering if i have caught it early enogh to sort it
he did say that if left it will pump oil through the turbo and when that happens it will ove rev and die
i have started to clean the inter cooler and the pipes and i will look at changong the EGR as there is some build up of oil in there and more pointers guys/gals
if you experienced this before
Regards NIck St helens

get rid of your spanner monkey  i/cooler is after the turbo and it's quite normal to have a bit of oil in the boost pipes and i/c,the turbo has an oil feed and return connected to lubricate it + the intake to it has a breather pipe from the rocker cover which can put a drop of oil thro', you could always take the i/c off and give it a flush out.......i would'nt worry too much
Don't knock it till you've tried it

As others have said, a small amount of oil in the intake on a turbo engine is normal

if the power decreases and the engine feels strangled, then think about sorting it :)
