Engine warning light

Postby Rupertbear » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:58 pm

this came on today after an emergency stop to awoid a wolf in the road ( dont ask ) I thought that maybe a plug had come loose or connections need a clean up . some of the plugs have little red clips that slide , but no matter which way I slide them the plugs dont want to come off  How do they disconnect and how do I get the engine light to go out. Can anyone reccomend a diagnostic reader that will work with a MK7 2.4 duratorque 2007 build ? as local Ford main stealer is cars only and its quite a treck to Aberdeen to the Arnold "Shark" transit centre.
Van still runs fine though

Even a Ford car dealer will have ids and be able to read you fault codes

My EML came on three weeks ago.I had the codes read,EGR/MAP,cleared them and the light went out.GREAT.
Today i popped down to exeter, unloaded, fired it up and there was the EML all lit up.I drove back to bristol and parked up for about 2 hours fired it up again and surprise surprise, NO EML . I sure this van`s got a mind of its own.

Usually means the egr is getting tired, and will fail completely before long, but get codes read again to confirm
