Ford Di engine .................. absolutely NO glow plugs, could have an ECU if it's a Turbo, but definitely NOT electronic injectors :P :D

However... if there are no glow plugs, how does it start?

2.5Di is direct injection
only indirect have glow plugs but newer direct injection have them to assist in cold start emmisions.

Transit 2.5 Di was never fitted with glow plugs, and should start at - 15 without assistance. The flame start option was fitted to 115ps turbos and some overseas versions.

The fuel system is a mechanical pump and injectors, and if you remove the plunger from the stop solenoid the engine will run without a battery or alternator.

The Di would start with out glow plugs because the compression ratio is so high, modern turbo diesels have a lower compression ratio, and so have glow plugs fitted to reduce emissions and help cold starts.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion
