newbie needing advice.

Postby former1742 » Wed Jun 20, 2012 7:26 pm

Hi there,
I've just brought a 2006 mk6 90 t350 nd I was wondering wat I should do to protect it for the long run. I'm thinking of wax oiling the bottom nd wheel arches. I've noticed small patch of rust producing just below the side loading door nd I was also wondering what to do to catch the problem early.
Cheers for any replies.

Wax oil and undersell, but make sure you give it a good scrape back on the loose bits first. There's a few threads on what's best for underselling on here, but make sure you keep the drainage holes clear! My side door sill rusted to pieces very quickly from inside out because drain holes were blocked :(

Ah rite yh that sounds good mate, I must admit I wouldn't of thought of that to be honest. Thanks for the advice. Are there many drainage holes or hidden ones to look out for?

Mostly just along the sills and side door track, and under the front door steps

Way oil in the internal bits, chassis rails etc. underseal on external areas. Usually quick drying but dependant on temp etc
