Aren't they matched to the cyl head..??

They can be lapped in to suit the cam journals..... if the cage is too worn then it needs to have material added to the journal area & machined to suit.

Lapping is only any help if there's a couple of thou' discrepancy. Machining needs the mating face skimmed to give enough meat to centre the top caps with the lower halfs.

May as welll just swap the whole head for the hassle it would save.
