What year van is it ?
Does it have an electrical connector on the egr valve ?

You should be able to fit a blanking plate without EML or limp mode.

I've got a Mk6 (2006) 2.4 135bhp camper. I'm pretty sure that the controller for the EGR is playing up at times, and getting worse. The engine idle can be pretty rough especially when cold. Feathered throttle creates a harsh misfire/lumpy running and some exhaust smoke. Opening the throttle even a little bit to accelerate and the engine runs smoothly and pulls very strong without smoke. On the motorway at 50 (why is so much of our motorway network limited to 50?) it hics and complains. As soon as I can do 60 or if there's a slight gradient then it runs perfectly. There are no fault codes and no warning lights. I removed the EGR to clean it but it wasn't bad anyway. It operates when vacuum applied to it. It is vacuum only controlled (no electrics). Can I blank it off without causing other issues or warning lights? I'd rather run without it if I can.
