the manifold looks a proper bit of kit not home made, probably an add on you could get back in the day

cant remember the carb they had but it was a single choke upright carb

Thats definately an SU.

Looks like an HS8 to me, the float chamber is on the wrong side so it probably started life as one of a pair...
