does anyone remember Transformation? It was featured in Custom Car magazine in late 70s early 80s.
I actually seen it at Wheels 79 at the custom show in Glasgows Kelvin Hall.

customizing and one offs

Postby BigMac » Sun Dec 24, 2006 12:54 am

yes i remember that van i was going to buy it in 1986 at a ford dealer in noth london . but it had a lot of paint to be repaird lots of money :cry:the van went round too many car sites in the end i know it was scraped . in its day it was a good van BUT with all that metal flake paint you cant just repair it you have to paint over half a van to get it to look half decent . thats why many of the top customs dont use metalflake paint today

was thinking of dropping Custom Car magazine a line asking for more vans...(and more drag racing).
Their editorials recently are asking for readers feedback to influence their features.
I was a bit surprised that no dedicated vanners mag exists to be honest, considering there's magazines dedicated to cookery, slimming, knitting, steam engines, cameras and every bloody thing else.

It may be a b*stard to repair, but I've got a 750 Zef in metal flake, and it looks gorgeous - can't really tell in the pics, but trust me, up close, it's hard to beat for drool factor

It's painted normally, then a laquer (clear coat) is applied with the metal flake in it.
