side loading door

Postby bondyfnm » Wed Sep 04, 2013 9:24 pm

Hello peeps, I was trial fitting my new modulars the other day and the side loading door fouls them.
Just wonderd if there's a thread about solutions to fix this on my smiley.
If not has anybody got any suggestions?

This question has been asked many times.............
Never gets an answer...........
Gull wing mod the side loader on gas rams?
Space out the slider rail from the body?
Cut a large notch out of the offending corner of the door and weld it back onto the body?
Lengthen the wheelbase?

Transit modulars have an offset for the Transit MK2/3, which have narrower axles which allows for banding and 245/255 tyres. Fitting a narrower tyre will help, but if you have redrilled Land Rover Modulars then the offset is even wider, packing the rail will help a little, but Ive never heard of anyone cutting the door down, but its an option :D

Cutting the door was a trick we used in the 70's-80's when fitting ridiculously wide tyres and then fabricating big arches to cover them. Its a lot of work cutting, shutting, and then re-shaping the door seal but it works.
