One Decent Battery

Postby Malli » Tue Feb 27, 2007 10:42 am

Hi.
If i was going to buy one decent big leisure battery to last me a lifetime.. What make and ampage should it be.. ? There are so many to choose from.
I might want to run a 12v tv and fridge off it for 3 or 4 days at a time..a stereo and maybe have a 240v item or two every now and then.. obviously these would all be used intermittently.. like you do...!
And can these batteries be tottally drained and fully recharged countless times with no probs.?

Cheers :D

Not totaly flat but they will dip below 12V and take a fesh charge without as much damage to the plates as a traction battery would get.
You may find it better/cheaper to buy 2 smaller batterys, theres a good book called "travel vans" by John Speed that covers the subject really well :)
Current fleet

Sounds like you need a 48V Traction battery but you may need to haul it around in a trailer. :P
Whats this wire do?

Right, so they'll take more abuse than a normal battery but you cant keep running the totally flat every time you take the van out for a few days.
Say, run them down to about a 30% and then recharge them ? :?
