I,m going to risk it, thanx for the advice tho, i,m just about to order the conversion plates this week. The only query i have is that my tranny has 14" wheels, which i must admit seem really small for a van, the granada wheels are 16",am i likely to encounter any problems with the tyres touching the inner arches on full lock?? New to this van lark, but have fitted oversize wheels n tyres to my 4x4s in the past without much prob.

As long as your rolling circumference is the same size, I would of thought you would be ok.
Also depends on how much weight, if any, you carry.
14 inch would be 80 profile
15 inch would be 70 profile
And so on, I think.
Hope this helps.

my 16" wheels are the same rolling radius as the 14"s they repaced - the tyres i think are 205/55x16 front and 225/50x16 back but im not sure - its on here somewhere if you want to check. but i'd imagine the granada tyres arnt a million miles off - just need to check the weight rating on them although coming off a granada they should be pritty heigh :D

the tyres load index needs to be above half of the axles weight limit

my swb mk5 is 1200kg front and 1280kg rear iirc meaning tyres need to b 600 / 640 kg rated at minimum

google the load index and you'll find a table but iirc 94 is arpund 650kg

the index is usually on tyre after speed index ie 205/55R16 W94

mabe a commercial tyre does but as far as i can find out a transit doesnt need a commercial tyre - all it needs is a tyre with a weight rating high enough :D

All too technical for me !! But i kinda get the jist. The funny thing was that today i placed the one granada wheel which has a tyre on against the van wheel, and there looked to be no difference, i guess thats because the tyre on the granada wheel is a much lower profile than my 14" tranny wheel..i now know what a rolling radius is !! I,ll keep u posted once i get the hub conversions..mind you having just had a £60 penalty fine and £170 to get the van thru its MOT, these might have to take a back seat for a week or two.Cheers for the help tho guys
