Rear Tail Lifts

Postby becky » Mon Mar 05, 2007 8:16 am

Sometimes I have to carry a couple of bits of equipment in the van, which are rather heavy.

I`ve made a couple of wheeled trolleys to make moving the stuff from my workshop to the van, but there lies the problem.

I don`t have another helping hand to transfer them into the van, apart from the mrs, and shes always chained to the sink or the hover.

How can I get them into the van, with out giving my self a hernier(sp)

I`ve though of a ramp, which might work, but this stuff is very heavy and could topple over when pushed up the ramp.

The other day I saw a merc wiuth a fold away lift, it all firs in neatley inside the van.

Anyone got a supplier for these lifts ( price might be well out of my range)
or perhaps a better idea on how to get them in the van.

You need something like this, I have a side lift for my wheelchair and its able to lift around 300kg and these are easy to find and fit. You can get ones which fold up either inside or underneath the van.

This one is interesting...well sort of, as how the hell do you close the doors. I think a picture is missing

This Tail Lift Folds up and is stored outside of the Van, as shown below

I think looking closer as the pictures that the nearest plate to the van folds outwards (hinge looks like it will fold that way) and then you fold the other plates on top, then you 'should' be able to close the doors. Or is it that you close the doors and then fold it up?

I think the doors close then you fold the lift up behind them but not sure as some slide under the van after use. Stops anyone opening the doors unless the lift is deployed which can be useful.
Mine folds inside the van and the doors close behind it, all by remote control.

Here is the chain drive to open and close the side door

Here the lift is stored

Then with it open

And its all controlled by the little remote

Very powerful it can lift "gut bucket" my mate who weighs 18 stone plus his electric chair no problem. Easy to fit if you get hold of the support plates that go under the van the lift bolts straight onto them with a couple of rams and a hydraulic pump to work it all.
There are several different versions with smaller or larger lifting platforms.
