So these should also fit MK6 & 7

They are truck alloys, no paint or laquer, its got stuff impregnated into surface to make it stay shiney

I have emailed Alcoa and asked if they will make me a set of these but in 6x170 PCD for my Mk2. Will post the reply up when I get one

A week later and not even the courtesy of a reply! So you are probably right Adaptors would not work, as they would push the wheels out too far. Pity, as the Alcoa wheels would be spot on for offset and width on a Mk2! I did a lot of measuring, and looks like they would be good on the Mk2 with a 195 or 205/60x16 tyre.

could hubs be swapped to later ones? then drill out wheel holes to suit?

I don't know, it is possible I guess? When did the twin wheel axle change to 6x180? What was the PCD of the Mk5?

MK5 is 6x180 with 24mm studs

I am now considering fitting a Mk7 rear axle to mine, narrowed to suit. That would give me disc brakes, a much better ratio, and 6x180 Will look at fitting Mk5-7 front discs to the Mk2 front axle. Can't redrill the existing front hubs as there is not enough material outside the studs to make 6x180.

Mk8 wheels do not fit on the inside rear I put 6 on my mk7 and it wouldn't budge when I went to drive it I just put mk7 wheels on the inside and 4 mk8 wheels on the outside

all very interesting! So obviously some variations in offset for the later model wheels. Looks like I need to research a bit more, and have the wheels I intend to use here, as well as the rear axle, before cutting/narrowing it to suit.
