My Custom custom

Postby Marky M » Sun Oct 07, 2018 6:05 pm

Hello Guys,

this topic will be about my costumizing my custom. After 9 years driven an Merc sprinter it was time for a new ride. I search a lot, expessialy on this forum. When I read about the new one, I knew, that;s the one.

So I went to the dealer, and in the end, I bought a chrome blue L2 Sport.

The first change of the custom was made it accessible for me, because I'm in a wheelchair! The van was for 3 weeks at a compagny specialized in rebuilding cars.

Here are some pics

Old and new:

Just my van:

First thing I did was removing the ecoblue label. Didn't like it. Als change the interior light to led, including the numberplate lights.

In time I will change more stuff. My to do list:
* Install amp and rear speakers. Done
* Install rear spoiler (will be paited one of these days)
* Install H7 led lights in main beam
* Install H11 led lights in fog lights
* Change wheels to 20" (Bola B20 ore wolfrace GTR)
* Chiptuning (remapping)
* Change the exhaust (both sides ore double)
* Purhapse lower the back a bit)

Nice looking van, I like the accessibility for you to get in with the wheel chair, if you don't mind me asking is the van set up for hand control.

For the rear speakers I bought a set of Phoenix Gold 7x10" speakers.

The are conected to a 4 channel amp, a axton A485:

Remove the radio for connecting the RCA cable:

It sounds pretty good. The amp still got 2 channels free, so thinking to buy a nice sub. Always good to get some more bass!

Thanks.

Yep. There is also handcontrole in the van. And the pedals are fold away. So it's possible to drive 'normaly' in the van.

A small update:

* Install H7 led lights in main beam Done
* Install H11 led lights in fog lights

* Change the exhaust (both sides ore double)
* Purhapse lower the back a bit

I've change the normal light to Led. What a difference. Not anly the looks, but also the sight. I recommendend everybody to update these lights! And the not expensive to, €30.

Still to do, change the fog lights to led:

And I bought a small sub, a Bazooka pipe. About 17vm in diam, and 50cm long. Some extra bass. It looks small, but for me the perfect sound.

Unfortunally the paint doesn't hold to the chromed plastic parts. So will do it again, but now use plasti dip. So to be continued for this

Today I replaced the H11 bulbs for the H11 led buld (fog lights). Much better. Now everything is the same K (±6000K). Looks very nice.
It's an easy job, when your car is on a bridge. From the bottem the bulbs are easy to replace. I tryed it how it is descibed in the manual, but I didn't get any movement in the plastic fog light cover.

Als installed an exhaust end piece, homemade. 2 pipes Ø70!

Vrijdag finally got my winter tyres. A set of Maxxis Vansmart Snow WL2 215/60 R17 109 H.

https://www.bandenspotter.nl/maxxis/vansmart-snow-wl2/215-60-r17-109h-255669/.

First impression is good. Not very noisy, similar to te Michelin summer tyres.

And at the same time painted the break calipers red.

hello,
Want to change my headlight bulbs. Did or didn't you get a error on your dash with these. Are you still happy with their performance. You just did the ow beam? Are you planning to do the high beam too?

how hard was it to connect the amp? I have a unused oldschool Phoenix gold amp, a line in convertor an a 3way helix compo I would love to use in the new custom sport.

I am a bit afraid of all the wiring I would have to do. was it easy to remove the head unit? Did you change your tweeters? can I just pull off the a pillar plastics?

Did you remove your door cards? Is there a secret screw somewher behind a panel? there often is one near the door grab handle.

loads of questions,...I know

Our vans don't give a warrent on the dash. So you can put anty led in you want.

I;m verry pleased with the H7 leds. Nice performance and looks great with the led DRL. Also the fog leds (H7) are the same looks.

For now the high beam is stil halogen. I don't think I will change them at all.

I hope in time there are some led lights to buy for the rear. If you look ad VW or Mercedes, the both have leds lichts as an option. Unfortunally Ford still don't. And on the aftermarket also nothing yet :( . I think our back lights are perfect to give a led design touch.
