18" alloys on a mk6

Postby Gavin-T » Thu Mar 05, 2009 11:04 pm

I keep looking around for alloys for my mk6 and its either 15 or 16" van alloys or pay through the nose for sport van alloys.

However i have found that land rover discovery and 1995 onwards range rovers have a offset of 57mm so with a adapter of 25mm this would still be 32mm.

Would this be enough with a 8" wide rim and 235 tyres to keep inside arches of a mk6?

I have also found these tyres http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... 0s258p9080 could i run these on my van safely? Its a low roof swb 280.

Many thanks.

Gavin.

where do you get the 57mm from :?:

i dont think you have the right measurment if you have 235 tyres then they are 235mm wide ET57 would make them stick out 60mm then 85mm with the adapter :(

i dont know of any mk6 that has adapters and the wheels anywhere near under the arch :)

The landrover alloys have between +55 to +57mm offset so a 25mm spacer would bring this down to between +30 to +32mm offset.

You sleepy tonight mate?

Say the landrover wheel bolted straight on it would be 55mm in from zero offset? With a 25mm spacer it would 30mm from zero offset?

This is how i have pretty much known it all to work.

Wheels on my old escort were +35 on the back and +49 on the front and the rears were a lot more dished, while the fronts sat in a fair bit.

When i had my old discovery i went from +33mm to +8mm and the wheels sat out a lot more.

i see what you mean, transit ET is 45 whats the widest tyres you can fit :?: your still gonna be past that and then theres the thickness of the tyres :? someone measured the hub face to arch edge and its posted on here :D

try it :D you wont have a problem with the weight on the alloys and you can fit lower profile tyres
