Rear Seat Belt

Postby rareboy » Mon Apr 13, 2009 3:28 pm

Hi

I am converting a LWH Hi Top to a camper. I have a bench seat in the rear with lap belts but wondered if I could install a 3 point belt on the seat next to the side of the van. The back of the bench seat is pretty much level with the post to the rear of the side door. This post seems to be suitable for a seat belt to be fitted. Does anyone know if this is possible and what kind of belt would fit? Would a spare passenger belt suit or do I need a more specialist version.

Thanks

i would say you'll be fine mounting a belt there - just make sure it's solidly mounted on a re-inforced place :D

you have to use a bit of logic doing mods like this - if you imagine the force in an accident if it takes a ton to rip it out of the mountings then the person would be ripped in half by the belt anyway - so it's strong enough

to be honest I'd think twice if it's side facing bench, many motoring experts(I'm not one of them lol ) advise against them, as the belt possibly wouldn't work properly for one, and second you'd have possibly more internal damage if you had a hard impact as you'd be sat in them wrong in relation to the impact
