I have used the rover v8 several times in conversions,,,, if you choose to use one of these then go for the auto gearbox as it is stronger,,,, the manual gearbox has a small 'arm' that the gearshift locates on and in 'enthusiastic' gearchanges this can snap off in the box and damage things.

Range Rover based on Rover 3.5, very old design, well proven, but very expensive to get good power out.

Lexus from what I know are very good engines, and speople are starting to realise this and transplant into rods etc.

Fuel injection sounds daunting, till the first one you do, and then it's easy. Depending on how many wires come off the engine, of course.

I would be going with the Lexus

me too - i quite fancy swapping my 2.9v6 8) for a 4.0 v8  some time in the future (few years) only thing is theres not an easy/cheap manual option - which i'd prefer :D

i'd still love to see one of these in a transit 8) 8)

True they do take a little money to get power from them, but if its going in a van, then power may not be quite the concern, pulling power of the engine is great, and the fact that they have lower overall power means that they last for ever....

if the Rover V8 might be the line you are thinking of then speak to V8 DEVELOPMENTS, i bought all the bits for my last engine from them,,,, ok so they cost me about £1000 for all new internals but was well worth it.

I also fitted edelbrock Carbs, and an offenhauser 360 manifold, with tubular 4/2/1 exhaust to mine,,,, straight through exhaust at the rear, with 4 cherry bombs (2 either side). sounded mint, went like stink, untill i blew the rear diff with the tourque :( lol,, by the way this engine was in a Bedford CF MK1 Panel Van with an 8" lift and other bits.
