Roof sealing after running wires through.

I might be in the wrong section, sorry if I am.

Can any one advise me on running wires from some working lights threw the roof. Whats the best way to seal the hole to stop water getting in, or is there a better place to run the cables? I'm going to be putting some spot lights on the roof also is it best to mount a junction box on the roof to save running half a dozen wires in. I'll be coming back to that as I need advice on relays etc to run all the lights together.

Use a flex gland to seal the cable entry thru the roof, ask a friendly sparky for one out his tool box

I used an ordinary grommet pierced it fed the wire through then used hot melt glue once round the cable, pulled it a couple of mil to get glue in the hole then filled the recess of the grommet (uppermost) with more hot melt glue. Its been fine for several years.(I glued the grommet into the roof first too.)

i used flex glands all around too. i found silicone and glue etc can get a bit mouldy especially if sitting under trees for a wee while.

you can get them in a range of colours too

Thanks for that, I should have put my brain into gear first and searched the Maplins site, found them as cable glands.

B&Q are local so I'll go there.
