2.9 V6 12V into MK5 HELP!

hi all! just before i take my van off road for engine swap im wondering if the 2.9 v6 12v will just sit straight in or i need some different mounts off something like v6 ambulance? my van is 1998 swb 2.5di.

yes mate you need different mounts - whats your donor engine out of :?:

some info here viewtopic.php?f=13&t=64889 12v and 24v are same block :D

arent the 12v exhaust manifolds transit specific as well? if you're interested i have a complete 12v 2.9 here that came out of a tranny...i do have some spare mounts too but im not selling them yet, not till i fit the cossie in mine.

xr4x4 efi 24,000 genuine, iv been told also to convert to 2wd just take off the 4x4 sump and oil pickup and swap for 2wd is this right?

probably not mate looking like a good 6-12 month project as im using the van while doing it up, but il try my best lol :lol: . just ordered paint today lamborghini pearl orange! going to start the panels next week. going taking some pics for you to see il post them on my profile when done.

i know the transit manifolds are different to the car ones but i think the car ones will fit with a bit of modding on the downpipe :) not sure as i went a different route alltogether :lol:

My son has fitted a 2.9i to a Mk3 SWB and he used granada manifolds I think. The Transit ambulance manifolds
are intended for a LWB steering box set-up so foul the steering rack on the drivers side. The granada manifold
is ok on the passenger side as there is plenty of room but on the drivers side he had to get the angle of the
manifold downpipe "adjusted" so it would clear the adapter plate and gearbox bell housing. He got the engine
and box etc from an ambulance so had all the bits handy but the manifolds caused us a bit of head scratching
and we eventually enlisted the help of a friend who welds for a living! HTH.
