Ford Transit Forum

hello has any one ever put a ford flat head v 8 4.2 in a transit or any thing, do they know if these engines are any good, for tuning, its a long story but i can buy one very low milage, and i wanted to use it in a chrysler pt cruiser i have , but apart from seeing them in old hot rods i know nothing about them, can any one help. rgds mike

Good grief!

Lesson learned for today. The Y block didn't spell the end of the flathead.

The list of tuning options for the original is endless and plentiful ex US, one assumes gallic flair hasn't reduced the receptiveness to being tweaked.

The big question is, a tricked up flattie is a thing of great beauty, especially with a set of Offenhauser heads, and such things should be seen as well as heard, so how do you morph a Transit into a '32 C Cab?

learning from trying to build a model t and wanting to use a flat, they are NOT cheap for parts!
and really not that much grunt.
might aswell use a small block ford

Ford last made a 24stud flattie in 1949- 50 are you sure the transit technology can keep up with it. Have you ever tried to pick one up, and they are almost as gutless as the transit diesal, what ever were you thinking?
