Scorpio leather seats

Postby chunky73 » Thu Dec 16, 2010 9:32 pm

Hi to everyone from a newbie and wannabe tranny owner!
Im on the verge of buying a a 1998 swb and i wish to put some odds and sods in
to make it a bit more homely as it were, Anyway i have managed to find myself
some really nice leather seats out of a Scorpio Ghia (only the drivers seat electric) for £50 and
i was wondering if this would be a mission to fit in my prospective van?
Any tips would be much appreciated :P

try to see if floor bolt holes are in same place on both sub frames
might be straight swap or might just need 2 or more holes drilling or widening??

Hi Rob,
I probably could do it that way but im thinking the seats would maybe sit too low as it looks like the van seats have the runners on the floor as opposed to on a box frame?
I could be wrong though as i have yet to buy a van to compare!

i'm afraid it wont be a simple bolt together job as the brackets on the scorpio seats aren't flat so you will have to grind these off and weld some box section or similar to the bottom. I've got some for my mk3. i'm gonna buy some aftermarket swivel bases from here http://www.thevanshop.com/page1htm.htm it should make fitting a lot easier :D
you shouldn't need the runners either as they are built into the granada seats

I see Andy, Looks like i will have to look into the swivel base idea then as i dont fancy that sort of hassle
but im sure in the long term it will be well worth it as they are very comfy and as im a old tart with a
nackered back these are a must fit one way or another! Thanks Andy

no worries mate. The seats are well worth the hastle as they are extremely cofortable. I'm sure a local engineering shop could knock up a subframe a lot cheaper than the swivel base if you don't really need it. its the sort of thing you really need doing properly tho :D

I have those seats fitted to my Mk2
They do need a bit of work to fit as they are wider than the transit seats .
But they are comfortable and worth the work

Hi
I have Scorpio seats in my Mk6, They aren't too difficult to fit.

Image

Just have to modify the 'odd' brackett, then make up 3 angle iron brackets.

I swapped mine side for side as with the electric adjusters as per Scorpio, when you lean in the van you adjust the seat

Have fun
