'01 mk6 transit. best engine conversion??

I'm soon to be getting a mk6 '01 transit off my dad when he retires and i take on the business. Its a swb fwd and i think its a 2.0d. I've sorted out some nice allys, new brakes all round and my mate who is a sprayer at aston martin is sorting out the bodywork ie rust patches and colour coding the bumpers so it should look the business. But..... its gutless!!!
I want to look at an engine conversion. I dont wanna try anything too radical, jus something thats been done before and is proven reliable and successful. I'd like to stick with a turbo diesel because i like the torque. I would be extremely helpful for any help r suggestions guys, thanks.

Oh and also just out of curiosity, would focus st alloys fit and be strong enough??

transit sport alloys would fit, and all u need to do is mod ur own engine to get some decent power.
