These seem to be "common practice" in the UK, so I thougth this might be the right place to ask around a bit.
Swapping a 2.0 catalyst EFI Pinto to a Cossie YB, what are the major issues that are not a staight fit, or bolt-on?
I am an automotive electrician, and been working on cars for soon 20 years, so I have no trouble with wirings, fabrications etc, but would be interested in such things like:
-will the Transit engine compartment take the Cossie intake manifold as is?
-the exhaust side looks spacious in the engine compartment, but will there be other clearance problems?
-will the standard Pinto engine mounts be good, or too slacky?
-any suggestions for the rear axle, is there a good transit option or should I replace maybe for a USA Ford one?
-anything else to keep in mind?

These are not YB specific issues, but has anyone got any good suggestions on brake/suspension upgrades/mods?

Thanks very much in advance guys, with greetings from Finland!!

Quick search for 'cosworth' here got this cool MK2 thread, i know Luke who runs the site also has a Cosworth engined transit and experience of the requirements.

here is one i've done on a mk6 - some of the info might be usefull  viewtopic.php?f=27&t=26031

it should be easier on the mk4 as the pinto and YB are basically the same engine block

standard pinto mounts should be ok they are quite strong in the transit :D

as for brake upgrades - if you have 15" wheels/alloys then fit the 3.5t brakes they will fit
the rear axle my other van ive fitted a ford 9 3/4" from an F150 pickup - its a much stronger axle than the transit one

there have been a few mk3/4/5 transits with the YB fitted so it will go in no probs :D

would be good if you start a progress report in here  viewforum.php?f=27 so we can see your progress as you go on 8)
