5 stud wheel sizing for spare mount..

Hey..

I'm possibly hoping to mount a spare wheel to the back door of the van, I've seen a couple of transit's with this and heard of people modifying existing carriers.

Do landrover 5 stud wheels fit the same? So can a landrover bracket be used and if not, how does it need modifying? I know there's brackets that fix onto the hinges themselves which is probably the best idea, though I don't know how I would modify... I could mount a bracket straight to the door so long as I know the wheel would fit properly... any thoughts?

proberbly the easyest way modding a landy one

landrovers 165mm pcd transits 160mm - obviously no good for actually driving but should be ok for a spare carrier - only thing you'd need to do is fit smaller studs

cheers... wasn't sure on the sizing, seems pretty close enough that it'll work just to hang the wheel

Is the pcd the same for all mk6 wheels? Mine are 16" though seems that most people have 15"

yep! same as mk5's too mk6 has 14mm studs tho - but i'm sure for a spare carrer they wouldnt need to be an exact fit so long as they held it tight

I'm just making one I got an old Mitsubishi Pajero spare wheel carrier and welded 3 transit studs to a bit of box section then welded the box section to the carrier to give it more clearance as mine is the bigger wheels and tyres (6studs) It's all painted just waiting for a fine day to fit it. I'll try and get some pics. even got a cover to go over it just waiting for a reply from someone to do my own design on it.
