lowering a mk6

hi all
wondering about lowering my mk6 swb 75
looking for bit of advice on this what am looking at doing ( if possible ) spring under axel mod buy making new spring seats for the axel
if have to get shorter rear shocks and move or adjust the brake load valve

any help or ideas would be great thanks

looked over the forum for the last 2 days cant find much about it so ,,,,

used to do this to mk3 escort vans without much hassel but is this GONA BE SPRING UNDER AXEL on a mk6 but the idea of cutting the beem and re welding that sounds maybe the way as would still have full travel on springs and could add a extra leaf spring for more stiffness but would have to be done VERY VERY GOOD

think need to look more into this befour start cutting ,,,

the spring under axel way have had a look again see what you mean luke wont have much travel ,mmm think will be adding extra leaf will be the way aswell so it wont bottom out on the chassie , have to dig out the old landrover leafs

rather than cutting off and rewelding the mount it might be easier to make a new mount and have the shackles go through both mounts

i looked under that van and the suspention travel was non existant but that back was only loaded with 126dB of speakers

ye serched that to but still nothing

ye luke thats how was gona do it make new ones closer to the beam as the standered are 25 mm of it where if i was to use 5mm plate get it closer and bolt as you sayed throw the old holes ,,,

thinking the other way aswell is to channel the chassie buy 50mm ( put a step in it ) there for the suspension has more to do its job and the beam wont hit

looked at cutting the beam up mmm only have 50mm to move the stubs up but want more of a drop plus would have to put a lot more strengh back in to the beam to hold the stubs in place

there is a easy way i think for a 50mm drop is just to turn the springs upside down and re bolt wouldnt have the looks but put a lot of stress to the spring hangers as there wouldnt be much give in them reversed

yep 22" on the back and 20" on the front - fitted with adapters

Can anyone put me in touch with the owney of this seen it at edition38 vw show but never managed to get a close look as it was driving round campsite would love to get in touch with the owner to speak about wheels and suspension
