Banana 76ps Di to lucas EPIC 85ps TDi conversion

Postby Luke » Sun Jan 15, 2012 12:11 am

as i've mentioned in my progress thread i'm going to have a go at converting my 1998 76ps tourneo to an 85ps turbo Di, but i'm going to try to keep the lucas epic pump and accociated wiring. i though i would start a new thread here so if anyone else wanted to do it they would have something to follow, as most of the turbo conversions on here go for the bosch pump.

so........ what else do i need - ive got an almost complete donor van so taken out the engine and bits, but am i missing anything else :?:

Engine
exhaust
ecu
accelerator pedal
radiator
engine wiring loom - is there any of this inside the van i need :?:

i am hopeing as i have the high spec wiring loom it will all just plug in :|

Never done one but, have you got the aux fuse box that's sits to the right of the battery :?:
And you may need the speedo, as it houses the infamous red engine management light :!:

I've carried out this very conversion myself several years ago on my old mk4 recovery truck. I'm glad I had the complete donor vehicle as I was back and fourth all the time removing bits to go into my truck. My truck was a K reg and I bought a L reg ex ambulance for the epic turbo motor, it had the airbox on top of the engine and the throttle pedal had a cable from it to the flyby wire unit on the bulkhead under the bonnet. I removed the dashboard and swapped in the Ambulance epic wiring loom. Basically I removed everything from the donor and swapped it straight into my recovery truck and I used the donor instrument cluster too. Nothing to do with the epic turbo conversion but I also swapped in the LSD from the ambulance and the rear anti roll bar. Completely tranformed my truck and it would quite happly take my Anglia and caravan of to shows all over the country and never gave me an ounce of trouble. 8)

I think your clock will already have the red light built in, it may need a bulb putting in, but I think you will need to change that part of the loom, you are going to need the dash out :!:
