Arches - ideal for all transits????

Postby Luke » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:30 pm

ive been discussing fitting some alloys to a mk6 with a mate of mine (more on that later) as anyone who's tried knows it's difficult to keep wide wheels under the arches ......... so i had a look round for some wheel arch extentions that would fit

i found these  http://www.magicaero.co.uk/userimages/procart2.htm
they are universal arches and after a quick measure some of them dont look a million miles off a transit, i'm thinking of getting a set for mine :D

they also sell them on ebay for the same price  eBay listings

obviously theres a few problems fitting them on a sliding door style van - but nothing that can't be overcome :D

i just measured my mk5 and the 730mm across looks close the width would depend on what alloys you could get 8) - i'd like some BBS RS split rims to fill them

Far far far too small, to fit 15 inch wheels on a MK2 you had to run 185 50 series tyres

Ive got 10" rears to go on my Mk6, got arches sorted, just need a way to get the side door to swing out more. Ive not come up with much in a search. Any idea what has to be done?

ive looked at this - a lot of people just pack the sliding rail out but it looks a bit bodged - what i was thinking was extend the runner so the rail can stay flush but to do this you need to mod the front corner of the rail as it needs to be further back into the van :D i certanly think its possable to do :D

Could you shorten the rear beam axle so more of the wheels fit under the arches?
