mk6 project!

Postby transitgeoff » Fri Aug 19, 2005 6:41 pm

Hi i was thinking about a new project, what i had in mind was craming a 2003 bmw v8 with fuel injection and auto box into my mk6  at the mo its front wheel drive so i need a suitable rear axle to use has anyone got any ideas what one would be strong enough and have the width i need :?: or has anyone got anything in mind about what problems i might have other than engine management issues as i can sort that , i think the bmw v8 with a superchip will fly what do you think? better than the old yank v8"s for economy and probably performance once the power is unleashed

Like the sound of that Geoff. Don't know how the back axle will go on the mk6 front wheel drive, isn't the rear floor alot lower. I know alot of the early custom V8s and things that people have done were running Jaguar rear axles.

 Couldnt you use the bms rear axle set up, or you could try a volvo rear axle, I had a 1980 244 axle in my pop with a rover v8 with no probs, theres a guy near us runs a ford model b with a small block chevy and a volvo rear. But like MrMpuk says a jag rear would do, that yellow one on ebay with the mid mounted v8 had one

If i was to fit a HI tec V8 into my van id go for a lexus v8 cheap as chips and very very strong, standard internals will handle 800hp

You can get shift kit for the auto's and all toyota comercial diffs are very strong and have large aftermarket support
