thin carpet for ply lining

Postby supZ » Wed Oct 31, 2012 6:18 pm

hi all,

i've been thinking about how/what to use when i install the ply lining in the connect.

i keep hearing people get cheap carpet but that sounds rather thick to me and im not sure what type to look at

in the past when i've lined ply i've used acoustic carpet in stereo installs and that which is nice and thin and quite stretchy but can be expensive especially if lining both walls, headliner and bulkhead!

what kind of thing should i be looking for thats nice and cheap? whats the carpeting/lining called?

was thinking of a grey type colour if that makes a diff.

thanks for any info

Hi I've got a load of industrial floor carpet its dark grey and very hard wearing. I had to buy a job lot I couldn't get just one roll. I'm going to do the back of my van when I get one lol. Where are you based you can have some of this if you want some. John

At the moment im in the process of sound proofing the inside of my van ..

Then when that's done I have this to retro fit the entire inside with..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280925786094? ... 1497.l2649

This stuff is of superb quailty , its exactly like the carpet in my wife's seat exeo , its very cheap .. basically £50 will carpet the entire inside of my van ... IMO thats not a bad price

Whats great is also .. if you have access to a heat gun you can heat the gel back and mould it to fit as if were manufacturer carpet ... Hopefully I will have mine done fairly soon and have pics up

Try these people, that where i bought all my lining carpet from, cant go wrong with it, they do a ultra thin stretchy carpet too. Dont forget to buy the high temperature glue with it or it will all fall of within a year.

Obvious answer to that is measure the inside of the van, the carpet comes in 2mtr widths

Hi mate i cant reply to your pm i think its because im a new member, 20 meters squared does seem a heck of a lot  . The rolls of carpet are 2.1 by 3.6 meters.
Could you do me a favor and mesure the floor of your swb length and width it doesn't need to be exact just a rough idea of how much i will need then i can let you no exactly how much is left.
Im about from 12 until 5 during the week and all of the time most weekends [unfortunatly] im out all day tomorrow
Thanks John
