Day Time Running Lights

I know new cars have DRL's mounted either under the head lights or under the main section of the bumper but could you mount them where the cab marker lights would be on a chassis cab and be legal?

Theres a boxer horsebox conversion i keep seeing by me that has drls above the windscreen and they are blinding, they also dont switch off properly, i think they have just wired them in instead of marker lights.
