SUB FRAMES FOR DRIVER / PASSENGER SEAT

Postby Valsheda » Wed Jul 27, 2005 12:21 pm

I NEARLY BOUGHT A PAIR OF NICE RECARO SEATS , BUT I COULDNT FIND ANYONE WHO SOLD SUBFRAMES TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE SEATS IN THE TRANSIT , I HAVE TWO SINGLE SEATS IN THE FRONT OF MY VAN AS STANDARD , SO I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A SIMPLE JOB BY BUYING THE FRAMES AND USING THE BOLTING POINTS OF THE ORIGINAL SEATS :?

HAVE ANY OF YOU GONE DOWN THIS ROAD BEFORE TRYING TO FIT DIFFERENT SEATS YOUR VAN :?:

Should have bought the seats mate. We usually bolt the Mk3 seats to a home made subframe, and bolt the seat and frame to the van in the original positon. Sometimes the seats can be unbolted from the subframe and just bolted to the runners, depends on the style. Where theres a will theres a way!

I'm back! This is a late Mk3 seat fitted to Mk2 chassis cab. This particular fitting is actually much more simple than I remember, just a simple large angle bracket bolted to the seat then to the original runner -

If you can get them, maybe the Mk2 runner might be the best for the job, I don't know what the Mk3 looks like, maybe you can alter that to fit the seats. Hope this helps!

You're right there! Some of our seats (4 sets to date) do have a bit of a frame, it depends where they split/bolt from the existing frame, but this gives you the idea.
