Postby MONSTER 0NE » Mon Jul 02, 2007 9:41 pm

where is the best place to get a pair of swivel bases for the front seats, as im thinking about fitting them in my new van when I get it which ever one I get :? I dont mind doing a bit of work to get them to fit if I can modify some from a different motor

Scrapyard, Renault Espace is what you are looking for.
Or dig deep in your wallet and pay the van shop http://www.thevanshop.co.uk

No idea, it has been done but whom by I can't remember. You will certainly need a frame to fit it to the seat plus the floor bolting possibly rearranged, but you did say you didn't mind a bit of work

Just add up the van shop against your time and effort, plus the cost from the scrapyard....I still think you will be going down the scrapyard ;)

Could you also look out for Galaxy bases? Although they aren't a Ford car, they might line up better than an Espace. It is also another route to look into.
Current Transit: Mk8 tourneo Sport with go faster stripes.

Long time sold: Mk5 LWB 190, 2.5di banana SHR, 3 seats, SLD, Twin rear doors (rusted bottoms), manual locking & windows.

Still as much a Ford as say a Terrano, or some the Mazda range...ok Fords part owns Mazda but still it keeps it's badge. You would still have to go to a Ford dealer for the parts afterall they wouldn't send you to VW dealer would they?

loads of galaxy's, sharans and alhambras in the breakers - they all have swivelling front seats, shouldn't be too difficult to just use the base mechanism - do a "find a part" request and you'll get about ten thousand e mails back :D
