Alloy Wheel Adaptors??

Postby big col » Tue Oct 07, 2008 8:13 pm

I saw some one on here had some adaptor plates made up by an engineering firm, and was selling them. Does anyone know who it was?? As i wanted to get a set made up at the college where i work, and needed the measurements. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers,Big Col.

I believe you will have problems finding wheels that will fit under the arches with adaptors on a 6 stud! Also 6 stud axles are much heavier duty, I would not be happy running adaptors on mine!

Can do. I did the 3D CAD model from the drawing posted on that thread.
If you give me a few measurements I can bash something up for you.
I need the PCD of the Transit 6 stud pattern.
I need the diameter of the Transit studs.
I need the diameter of the studs you want to run.
I need the diameter of the head on the studs you want to run.
I need the diameter of the portion of the stud where it is pressed into the adapter/flange.
I need the diameter of the spigot poking out from the centre of the hub.
I need to know how far the spigot pokes out fron the face of the brake drum.
I need the diameter of the face of the brake drum.
I need the PCD of the wheels you want to fit.
I need the inside diameter of the centre hole in the wheels you want to fit.
I would like if possible to know the diameter of the inside face of the wheels you want to fit.
If you have a preference for the thickness of the adapter/spacer let me know otherwise I will do it at 20mm or 25mm.

If you could do a quick measure of that and PM them to me I will have you a 3D CAD model and a set of working drawings within a few days.
For things like the drum diameter and how far the spigot pokes out a ruler is fine but for the critical bits see if you can get a vernier caliper onto them.
Dimensions in millimetres preferred but I can work in inches if required.

Trouble is the 6 stud axles are much wider than the 5 stud ones and with adaptors your wheels will have more sticking out than under the arch.

wouldnt it be possible to put on arch extensions of some sort? i wouldnt mind a set of alloys on mine, and i have the chance of a set of 22" with low profiles that only come in at about an inch taller than standard tyre :)

The wheels and tyre both have to have a load rating up to or exceeding the axle load. Thats the law whether you are using the vehicle commerically or not
