Thanks Alan.yea im fitting transit connect plastic arches on the back.Im trying to find off road tyres for the rear.My problem is i go diving on the weekend and i have a 6.5 metre rib and sometimes i find it hard to pull the boat out the stock tyres just sink in the sand.I know i need a 4x4 transit but Im also a motorcycle mechanic i use the van for picking up bikes and the 4x4 is too high.
P.s. Love your van

Have you tried letting some (most of) air out of the tyres?

If you want to fit 15x10 on the back I would be inclined to fit a mk3 rear axle - which is narrower than the mk5

Hey Colly. In the 80's I had a Bedford CF.. LWB and fitted a chevy Camero rear axle ,with a pair of 10x15 Woolfrace
wheels (ltd edition ) and did'nt need any arches . why not look at Heavy duty American Ford car axles?
cheers Geoff

I'd not worry too much about the width, possible problem could occur with height, though there's some pretty wide low prof tyres about...

Try here for the tyres

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m64b0s227p0

Not sure if they will fit width wise in your arches but they should be ok for the rim. They are a 4x4 tread pattern too and not overly expensive :D

Just as a thought.......
Could you not put some mk6 15" rims on and use some 15" 4x4 tyres? http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m26b0s496p0 Skinny tyres are better than wide tyres 95% of the time when off roading as they can cut through the soft mud to the firm ground below.

Ive got 10 x 15 cragar slot mags on the back of my s reg and 8 1/2 on the front using 25mm adapters
i went the old school route for the arches 10mm steel tube then plating them in with steel took me a lot of work and still not exactly finished to how i want em but certainly turns heads wherever we go tyres are 265 50 15 0n bk and 225 60 15 on front only problem i had was had to take the taper off the front outriggers and make them square like a mk 1/2 easy job to make tyres clear ive tried 17s 18s on but to be honest although they look great i carry a lot of equipment long distances and was always replacing tyres usually every couple of weeks. as for pics of my van id love to put some on here but i havnt got a clue how and as im not a computer buff the instructions go right over my head now all as ive got to do is work out what to do with the side loading door it only opens about 2 inches now
if its got tits or wheels its always gonna end in trouble !!!
anyone can restore a van but it takes a real man to chop it up !!!

I saw a pair of BFG 275/55/15 for 19.99 on ebay last week while looking for my 14's they fit 7.5 to 9.5 " wide rims, plus they didn't sell

I have chart here, I can email it if you want, plus try this calculator http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresiz2.html
