Should still work!

:D Good plan, but it needs to be able to slide left and right as the arm moves forward and back and without the clips it would work once when you put your foot on the clutch, then when you lift your foot off the clutch the bearing would fall off the arm, seems a new one is the only answer :(

Hmmmm ... phoned Fords,
Me: Hi, do you have a clutch release bearing for a mk5 2.5 diesel rear wheel drive Transit?
Ford: What`s the registration mate,
Me: I don`t know its a custom job and gearbox is from a donor van,
Ford: Well what was the exact year of the donor van,
Me: I don`t know,
Ford: What`s the Ford part number on the bearing,
Me: Don`t know as it hasn`t got a part number,
Ford: Well, I can`t look it up then,
Me: Can I bring my old bearing in to compare and match to a new bearing,
Ford, No, we don`t keep them in stock, we can order them in £46 + Vat but they are non-returnable so if incorrect, nothing we can do.
Me: Ok, bye then.

I love it when company's go out their way to help

Woke up with some enthusiasm today :D so whilst waiting for the postman thought I would play with the mk5 TRANSIT badge I got from mr scrapman (minus its sticky back). Fibre-glassed 3 bolts into the back of badge, sanded it and will apply it with 3 nuts and some clear sticky stuff:

Tidied up the garage a bit, then at 2pm I saw a familiar site coming my way:

Image

And he had a small parcel for me :D from Tim:

Ran outside and installed the new bearing:

Then wrestled with the trolley jack and got the engine connected to the gearbox and sat on its engine mounts:

At last :D engine is in :D

With the extension pin Tim supplied, clutch release bearing is now sat just behind the clutch cover fingers in its fully back position:

The sump modifications I done have worked well, with plenty of clearance around the steering rack:

Fitted throttle cable, clutch cable, alternator and power steering pump and pipes:

Then it got dark, so have ordered a 12" pizza :D
Looking forward to tomorrow now, need to make a bracket to site power steering reservoir, finish off prop centre mount, fit/fabricate exhaust system, sort out all cooling pipes, extend starter motor cables as starter is now on other side of engine .... yippee :D :D :D
