pics of the downpipes - got the hego bosses welded in today - one is still tacked but i will finish it off tomorrow :D

Image

had a look at the amby but loads of nettles and weeds have grown round it :x so i'll have to drag it out to get the tank/pump off - im gonna try just using the tank sat on the garage floor - see if it runs! if it will tick over thats a bonus

also had a look at this relay box and it seems perfect - im gonna make a bracket tomorrow for it to mount to - that way if its no good or needs replacing for a bigger one later - i'll be able to mod the bracket rather than the inner wing :D

Just popped in for a cuppa so heres my daily progress update

Both manifolds now fitted and down pipes bolted up, they will have to come off again to have the silencer joint welded in, but i could run the engine without setting fire to my engine bay

Just gonna have a look at what wiring is left before it will turn over!

update :(

tried a battery - fuel pump relay coming on all the time, inj relay wont come on at all, and it wont even pull the starter in let alone turn over :?

so i got something wrong somewhere
i haven't looked at it yet (no time) - but i was expecting it to start up 1st time   :P

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

JUST GOT IT STARTED (YES I AM SHOUTING  ) WOOOOOOO HOOOOOO  - im chuffed can you guess :D

no matter how many times i do an engine swap its still such a buzz to get it started 1st time after having the wiring loom in bits etc. 8) 8)

pump relay was the wrong one - pins in a different place - easy sorted and the starter sol was just the battery - was good a good one when i took it off must have been a long time ago   and the inj relay just worked once the other was swapped - cant be bothered to work out why now, but i'm happy :D

ive got it running with the amby pump in a can of petrol - looking at it i can mabe fit the amby tank under the van and run a pipe all the way round to the filler - may be a long fill up but - should be ok for the MOT :D

now i need to pipe the rad up - all that was with no water in - i only had it running for a few secs so it wont have done no damage :D

Todays update :D getting close now - i'd still be there now working on it if i didnt have "other things" to do

all piped up - well no heater matrix and no oil cooler - but i'll sort them later  had a bit of a fright as i was topping it up, thought i'd popped a core plug with the amount of water coming out but it was one of the turbo water feed plugs i'd forgot to put back in

servo was pritty easy in the end - i battered the end of the servo down to give a couple off mm clearance and packed one side out with washers and its moved it across giving 2-3mm gap should just be enough, i may have a go at making my own plenum once its all running either that or buy a topboss one for £950 hmmmm let me think

Propshaft - ive got a fair few spare props knocking around so after trying a few i found a front piece that matches almost with the centre bearing position - just needs a bit of a plate making to bring the mount forward, and a back half that needs shortening 95mm, i think i'll do it myself rather than shelling out, once ive got it sorted i'll have a prop made up with all new joints but i need to be sure on the axle just yet :D im not sure what (transits) the prop's are off but i had to change the mk1 axle flange to a later one :!:

Tank - im thinking of fitting the amby one backwards - the outlet will be at the back - i cant see any problem with it should be ok but that way the filler neck is a lot closer :D - this is the next job i think i'll do :) :P

JOBS LEFT
Battery - mount under seat and run wires!
propshaft - shorten and fit back half
fuel tank - fit
wire up cooling fan (allready fitted just need wiring)
make up exhausts - just 2 temporary systems to get it running and MOT'd

all this talk is well and good luke but wheres the pics come on mate pull ur finger out and get snapping lol

on another note what gearbox are you going to be running? mine is a mt75 out of a 2.9 transit and its about given up the ghost its crunching, not sure if its the clutch or gearbox but spoke to top boss today about a possible better gearbox and they have just developed a kit to fit a t5 cossie box so the gear stick comes out pretty much where the transit one comes out so that might be an option for me down the line
